Dr Shohreh Beski
The Founder and the chair of the trustees Shohreh Beski and our trustees are putting their time and resources into pursuing the dreams formulated by Dr Gholamali Beski. In the 1 minute video on this page, the Late Dr Gholamali Beski sets out his vision of helping others. Through his 40 years of hard work he was able to achieve what he promised and created an amazing group of charities under the Sabzgaman Beski Institute in Iran.Dr Shohreh Beski founded the Sabzgaman Beski Charity in the UK to follow in the footsteps of her father.
Shohreh Beski is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist with over 30 years of experience in the UK, after her training in Iran, and the UK. Her special interests are Regenerative medicine and Complementary medicine (Gerson Institute). Shohreh is the daughter of the late Dr Gholamali Beski who is known as the Father of Nature in Iran for his environmental activities. She follows in her father’s footsteps both in her professional as well as humanitarian and environmental work. She aims to use her knowledge and resources to set up a retreat (hospice) for terminally ill patients in Iran. Shohreh is the chair of the trustees.
Iain Oswald is a retired psychiatrist/psychoanalyst living in London. He visited Iran on one occasion and was overwhelmed with its beauty and potential. He enjoys contributing to this deserving and committed charity because it efficiently delivers donations to environmental projects and the struggles people go through when living with terminal illnesses.
For most of her professional life, Rosalind has worked as a Special Needs teacher and manager, working with secondary school-age students and young adults with particular emphasis on Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD and Autism. She also taught for four years in Iran, in secondary and tertiary education. Whilst in Iran she travelled extensively and learnt Farsi. Since retiring from teaching, she has developed interests in Landscape Design, Garden History, and Tree Identification, and volunteered for the London Parks and Gardens Trust. At present, she is responsible for the 600 trees on the historical London urban estate where she lives. She also oversees the design and upkeep of the estate gardens.
Theresa Freeman-Wang has been a Consultant Gynaecologist at Whittington Health NHS Trust for over 20 years. She is currently President and a Trustee of the BSCCP (British Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology) and Secretary-General of the IFCPC (International Federation of Cervical Pathology and Colposcopy). As well as working with others to eliminate cervical cancer, her other areas of interest include art & medical history, ethics in healthcare, complementary medicine and travelling. Theresa has been to Iran on a couple of occasions and had the opportunity to travel around and see what Dr Gholamali Beski and his family have achieved.
Farhad Aref-Adib is a senior consultant radiologist known for his tireless work to set up the secondary care pathway for the safe management of patients with breast cancer. He is specialized in diagnostic imaging and interventional procedures. His expertise and dedication have earned him a high status between patients and colleagues. Farhad is committed to educating and mentoring the next generation of radiologists/radiographers and nurses. His contributions have had a profound impact on patient care and have positioned him as a respected figure in the field of radiology. He is a philanthropist and has helped many charities including Dr Beski’s Charities in Iran to build a scientific Foundation that is to be opened in 2023-24.
Foroutan Parand is an honorary Associate Professor at the Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering at University College London. He has over 40 years of experience in teaching, researching, practising, and advising professionals in the design and operation of sustainable and low-carbon-emitting buildings. He has been serving as founder, trustee, and volunteer for several charitable organisations since 1984.
Mehrnoosh (Mez) Aref-Adib is a Consultant Gynaecologist and Obstetrician at Whipps Cross Hospital (Barts Health) in London. Having qualified from Cambridge and UCL medical Universities she undertook speciality training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in North Central London. She spent one year undertaking a minimal access fellowship in Melbourne, Australia in 2017. Mehrnoosh is a member of the BSGE (British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy) SCOPE team. Mehrnoosh speaks Farsi fluently and enjoys dancing, spinning and socialising.
Ben Wilfrid Lamb is a consultant Urological Surgeon at Barts Health and UCLH NHS Trusts and Clinical Lead for MDT Development in the North East London Cancer Alliance. In addition to his clinical work, Ben is Urology Cancer Lead at Barts Health, an executive committee member of the BAUS section of Oncology, and a Prostate Cancer UK Clinical Champion.
Golnar Aref-Adib is an NHS Consultant psychiatrist working in central London leading the core community mental health team. She has published papers on the therapeutic use of technology for severe mental illness in The Lancet Psychiatry and BJPsych Advances. Her research has been presented at RCPsych International Congress, European Network For Mental Health Service Evaluation and in the UK at the House of Lords. She was the winner of the Higher Psychiatry trainee of the year at the RCPsych awards. She enjoys blogging for The Mental Elf, has three children and is a wellness enthusiast. Her dedication to breaking down barriers and improving access to mental health care has made her a respected leader in the global community. She is a passionate and empathic leader of changes in her community and in the world of psychiatry.
Camron Aref-Adib is a local councillor in Camden, representing the Labour Party and senior parliamentary researcher. Previously he worked as an economist in Nigeria’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment as an Overseas Development Institute Fellow, a scheme funded by the then UK Department for International Development. He has also worked at the World Bank, International Growth Centre and Yale University.
